Fake Anti Virus Removal & Other Nasty PC stuff
Fake Anti-Virus Programs got you down? PC Running Terribly SLOW! here is a few How-to Guides to help you Go through and possibly fix your own issues saving you money on a service call.
Here are some Step by Step instructions you can use to try and eliminate a service call.
1. Reboot your PC into “Safe-Mode with Networking” option.
2. Once your PC is in Safe-Mode, browse to www.malwarebytes.org.
3. Download the Free Edition of Malwarebytes & Install and Update the Program.
4. Once installed and updated, run the Full System Scan.
5. Once this has been completed, (It could take a while anywhere from 5 minutes to I’ve seen 4 hours depending on the severity of the infection) Remove ANYTHING it finds, removing anything this program finds will not affect NORMAL system operations.
6. It may tell you to finalize the Cleaning process you need to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.
If you do not know how to enter “Safe-Mode” Here is the instruction on how to do that.
1. Turn off your PC, and When its off Power it on, After you hit the power button start tapping the F8 Key until you get a menu showing options like Safe-Mode, Safe-Mode with networking, etc.
2. For most easy cleaning Safe-Mode with networking is best so you can download the Files needed to clean the PC. If you already have the latest Software installed and updated then just regular Safe-Mode will do.
3. Wait for the Safe-Mode Desktop to appear after you choose the option above.
What if you’re in Safe-Mode with Networking Option and you can’t browse the Web? Check this setting to make it work.
1. Open up Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools
3. Click on Internet Options
4. Click on the Connections Tab
5. Click the Button labeled “LAN settings”
6. Under the Proxy Server option there should be NOTHING checked. (Unless you have Filtering software but they very rarely use this option so for a GOOD RULE Of thumb if you do NOT know what Proxy Servers are then you’re probably not really using one, so it’s safe to uncheck this option.)
7. On this same screen the only real thing that should be checked is “Automatically Detect settings” so if anything other than this is checked go ahead and remove those checks as well.
8. OK out of all the windows until you get to the Internet Explorer Screen again.
9. Try and browse the web. If you’re still unable to browse your infection may be really bad and need a Trained Tech to fix your issues.
We hope that if you can’t fix your issues that you keep Elite Tech Services in mind to correctly and accurately fix your issues.

Anti-Virus Advice
Previously Elite Tech Services Recommended AVG (FREE) Version as an alternative to the Pricey Norton & McAfee. Well here lately I have noticed the Failure of AVG to meet the Demands I want for an Anti Virus Solution and have moved my Stance on Free Alternatives for Anti Virus options to Microsoft Security Essentials. They have cleaned numerous Issues that AVG has Failed to detect & clean. So if you have AVG Free and want to convert to the Microsoft Security Essentials. Follow the steps below to remove AVG from your PC & Download the Microsoft Security Essentials Program. Steps are as follows:
- Go to Start
- Go to Control Panel
- Go to Add Remove Programs (XP) Go to Programs – Uninstall Software (Vista/7)
- Find AVG in the list and select it
- Click on Remove
- Once you have removed it and it asks you to reboot the PC you can either reboot it now or wait and install the New AntiVirus in the next step it doesn’t matter how you do it.
- Navigate with your browser to the following link. Microsoft Security Essentials.
- Click the Download Now
- Choose your Language & Windows Version
- It will pop up the download for the Program Either Run or Save the file & then run. Again either way is good.
- Follow the instructions on the Installer & after its completed Reboot.
- After reboot Attempt to update the Antivirus Program and run a scan to make sure your PC is Officially clean after the uninstall of AVG.
As always Elite Tech Services strives to help Customers with their PC’s with little to no Cost to the Customer. We do know how the economy is, and want to help when we can on our site. How to record audio with Audacity
- Open Audacity
- When your ready to record press the Record button (looks like a regular record button like on a Stereo.)
- When your completed recording press the Stop Button
- Save the Recording by choosing File -Save Project -Select the Appropriate Folder on the PC -Name the file according to Some scheme you come up with -Then Save.
- Now that you have it recorded on to the PC in “RAW” Wave Data we need to convert it to a “Digital Medium”
- To convert to MP3 “Digital” choose File -Export as MP3 -Choose the appropriate Folder for MP3′s -Name the File Again like in step 4 then save.
- It will prompt you for ID3 Tagging. This is good if you have a Digital read out on CD Players or MP3 Players to see what Is actually playing So I would Title it accordingly, Artist Name, Album Name – Genre – Any other Comments you deem needed. Click OK.
- It will Compile it and Save it.
